There are a few different approaches you can take to filter web content, depending on the specific use case. Many firewalls have this and some have more options like the Fortinet. and it is nice it is built in to the firewall. or advanced Cisco filtering using 3rd party filter from an ASA. see we can pick FILTER GROUPS to block, allow or monitor. Then when they surf the web, we can see they are part of TIER4 or other and block or allow sites.

so we define a AD group called TIER 4, TIER 3 etc. TIER 2 may be manager or power users and they need access to LinkedIN for marketing or facebook for marketing. but things like facebook and social are blocked, adult content, gambling etc. Everyday users get TIER1 level and can only do certain things. On the Fortinet I define TIER web filter groups. The new Cisco Meraki seems easy to do this as well.

One blocked malware or ransomware infection or rather one unblocked one will prove whether or not you made a good decision.
