I started researching new eReaders, tablets etc but didn't really know what to do. I went to the Kobo website and it said they did not support Libby, so I figured I was done with Kobo. (I tried all the suggestions here and nothing worked!) Then this past winter, I found out Overdrive was going to be discontinued, and Libby would take it's place. There were a few older books that were ePub only and would have to read those on my laptop, as my Kobo would always give me the error message about ADE. Not sure why they can't work together! For awhile, I had no problems with my Kobo as it had the Overdrive app on it, and most of the books I wanted to check out worked with Overdrive from my library. I have been following this thread for a couple of years now, and was extremely frustrated with both Kobo and Adobe. Transfer the books to the eReader using ADE.Re-download the ACSM file and open it with ADE.

i am trying to work with them now to get a software patch. Here is something i got from kobo, but it takes forever. Hope this works for you all like it did for me! Its an annoying solution but I'm hoping that now that the setup is done I shouldn't have to worry about the struggles of simply reading a library book anymore. Download the EPUBs of the books you checked out and import into ADE and into your eReader as you normally should be able to.I found that I could not just re-download books I had already checked out and add them into ADE. Check out any books you may want to read AFTER you have changed your email address with your library.Un-authorize both your ereader and your ADE from your regular email address and re-authorize with the new email address.Change your email address in your library account to be the new email address.Create a new adobe account with this same new email address. This way you shouldn't constantly have to check this new email if you get reminders about due dates or holds from your library. I created something like Set up this new email to automatically forward to your regular email. Create a new email (gmail, hotmail, whatever your preference). Its annoying and seems completely unneccessary to have to do it this way but it works. Note: You won't be able to authorize ADE with a library card. This worked for me for a little while and recently stopped working. Enter your email address (or Adobe ID) and password, then select Authorize.Select OverDrive (recommended) or Adobe ID from the eBook Vendor drop-down menu.If you aren't prompted to authorize ADE the first time you open it, go to Help > Authorize Computer. Libby doesn't use Adobe authorization for ebooks, so you'll be able to download the same ebooks in Libby and in ADE, no matter what authorization you use for ADE. If you plan to use ADE and Libby, you can use whatever authorization you like in ADE. That way, you won't run into authorization issues when you download the same ebooks on your mobile device and on your computer. If you plan to use ADE and the OverDrive app, we encourage you to use an OverDrive account to authorize ADE. You can authorize up to six devices with one account. To download the same ebooks to additional computers or devices, be sure to authorize each one with the same OverDrive account or Adobe ID. To download DRM-protected ebooks to your computer and transfer them to compatible ereaders, you'll need to install and authorize Adobe Digital Editions (ADE).
